Consulate waste visit

Was invited to visit a consulate in central Delhi recently. Residents of the apartment blocks living within segregate and dispose their waste as per the containers marked in the basement. No door to door collection system – only segregated drop off by each family. Each one, takes charge of their own waste. Half the work done! Much kept away from the landfills…. Put systems into place, and follow them – with zero deviation.

In communities not composting yet it is possible to:

1. Keep dry recyclable waste collection cartons or bins in the common area/parking/store rooms

2. Bottles, metal, paper, cartons, plastic make up close 25-30% of your waste.

That way, much can be salvaged rather than ending up as foiled feed for the #WTE or your landfill.

3. Let’s change our habits. Easier than fighting the government against WTEs, forest grabs, landfills and corruption.
