Chasing Marigolds

Marigolds on the 7th floor
shining from above
on to a dusty, hungry
emptiness below.

A sun-kissed blush
no clouds in sight
the blueness pales
to the golden rush…

of marigolds
suspended from their
ochre self on someone’s
crowded 7th floor.

My journey was so swiftly past
barely caught a fraction’s eye
of the peering spotted shine
from the looming concrete tower.

Comfort to a broken heart
solace to eyes seeking love
hanging way above the ground
orange heartbeats ringing loud.

I want to be the marigold
shining for the seer’s eye
riding broken lonesome songs
in journeys away from home.

It’s world poetry day today. May there be poetry in your life… always. Shining out of nowhere, somewhere and everywhere. The silver lining amidst the darkest clouds, lending a reason to smile.
