‘The doers’

It’s not the easiest time for our waste workers. There is a hidden fear and panic hearing the news of people falling like nine pins all around. Reach out – have a chat. Please reassure them that COVID is not transmitted by touch. Hand hygiene and masks are critical in keeping them safe and how they are our backbone.
Watch out for your waste picker. Give him/her a box of gloves, soap and few masks if possible. Exchange a few words of appreciation from a distance if time permits teaching them to keep distance as well. It goes a long way.
This is the team in my community… holding firm and strong for the whole of last year and more – right through the pandemic and lockdown – this team did not give up and I thank God a million times that nobody fell sick. I thank God we have them. Counting blessings in these crazy times for ‘the many good people’ around!
(A fresh briefing today on hygiene and masking – a few got pulled up for wearing shabby masks, new ones being organised immediately)!
Share your ‘good people around’ managing our waste. So we can collectively bless them here.
